NASA flag bearer Raila Odinga is not the ‘Joshua’ who will take Kenya to ‘Canaan’, political scientist Mutahi Ngunyi has said. Mr Nyungi, in his weekly YouTube video analysis of political events, says Raila’s move to go the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem to pray and post photos on social media was insincere and hypocritical.“Was Raila’s prayer about peace and prosperity of Kenya or was his prayer like that of his father (Jaramogi Oginga Odinga) — that God makes him president even for five minutes,” one analyst in the video speculates, before admitting that the political scientists have no idea of what the prayer was about.“But we are persuaded that Raila’s prayer was about Raila Odinga — not about country,” the analyst claims. One analyst, referring from the Bible, says that Jesus taught Christians that only the Pharisees went about telling everyone about their prayers to God in order to impress. Praying is a private affair, they say. “Was Raila trying to impress Kenyans with his prayers?” political scientist D.M, a Ph.D student at Swiss MC Uni. Zurich, poses. “Was he doing this because he was accused of witchcraft or is he praying in Jerusalem to become Joshua,” she adds. The analysts noted that when Raila is in Nairobi, which is most of the time since he operates from Karen, he does not go to church. “If his last record as a practising Christian was when he was 8, how can he claim to be Joshua?” Lawyer J.M, also a Ph.D student at Swiss MC Uni. Zurich, says former Nigerian president Sani Abacha also called himself Joshua and vowed to take the West African country to Canaan.“Then Abacha took too much viagra and died,” he says. The other reasons the analysts give why Raila is not Joshua are: “Joshua was mentored by Moses, Raila by no one”.The also observe that Raila is too impatient.“Unlike Joshua, who waited for Moses to retire, Raila was too impatient. He wanted the presidency now. And wanted it for himself, not country,” an analyst from University of Cambridge argues. Joshua used his positive energy well, the analysts say, unlike the ODM leader who they say has a lot of negative energy that he uses to promote himself. “Raila is fueling the Unga Revolution to take himself to Canaan,” one analyst argues in the video, adding that his prayers in Israel were a spin.
