Raila at a press conference. ( photo/Kenya today)Let me make it crystal clear from the very begining; Raila is not in charge of the political narrative of his life at the moment.
I have argued here before that he has been held hostage by radical forces within NASA who keep using him like the ogre of African short stories to scare the little duo of Uhuru and Ruto.
The tragedy is that, in so doing, they have ended up embarrassing embarrassing the man who was once an enigma of Kenyan politics.
After days of empty rhetoric with threats if swearing himself in, Raila has again embarrassingly postponed the much hyped ceremony on December 12.
The move comes in the wake of sustained pressure from Western diplomats who may have used their soft power to prod Raila's ribs.
It has been reported wisely that Raila kept uncharacteristically quiet during the meeting with envoys. What made him mum is yet to be known.
It is however feared that Western powers may be silently dangling the ICC math in the equation forcing NASA into the fallback situation.
Worse still, Kenya's Attorney General Githu Muigai has dangled the guillotine machine for any one who dares to swear himself unconstitutionally.
Whether It is the fear of ICC or the fear of the guillotine that has forced Raila to the drawing table is yet to be unravelled.
One thing is however clear: Raila's political image has suffered immensely immensely both in the eyes of his friends or foes.
Like Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe, Raila's political death is excruciatingly slow and painful.
