Opposition's National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga has for long been known as the nation's leading whistleblower.

The leader has been in the front line in revealing the government's wrongdoings and pending and hidden graft deals and also a big critic of the Jubilee government, characteristics he seems to have suddenly lost.

He has remained relatively silent since his truce with President Uhuru Kenyatta and is no longer involved in press conferences as has always been the case.

This could be emanating from the March 9 event where the two agreed to collaborate on national healing and, therefore, has decided to secretly engage the President in correcting them rather than throw condemnations.

With a section of the ruling side led by Deputy President William Ruto questioning the truce, with the DP's allies accusing him of having a hidden agenda, the former Premier could have grown tired and decided to cut-off his support.

He might have lost hope and decided to silently watch due to the ungratefulness demonstrated by the team which has also poked holes into their recently-launched national unity campaign, terming it his 2022 presidential bid preparation.

Lastly, this could be a demonstration that there really is something brewing between Odinga and the President regarding the 2022 poll as is being alleged by some quarters.

It could mean that the two national leaders are in the course of creating a political strategy to be used to tilt the poll result hence his retreat to not spoil the deal.

What remains only time will tell.
