Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho may be forced to seek the support of another party or coalition to contest for the 2022 presidential election.
This follows the signing of the National Super Alliance (NASA) agreement between ODM leader Raila Odinga and Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka.
According to the agreement, Raila, if NASA takes over power after the August 8 poll will lead the country for five years before passing on the button to Kalonzo who is also seeking to contest for the presidency in 2022.
Currently, NASA’s Pentagon excludes Joho as it is constituted by Raila, Kalonzo, ANC’s Musalia Mudavadi, Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetangula and CCM’s Isaac Ruto.
During the unveiling of NASA’s presidential flag bearer at Uhuru Park, Raila said: “I am the first among equals. We are five and we want to change Kenya to realise our forefathers’ dreams. I will be president to help Kenyans jump over to Israel and my role will be done. Then I will hold my brothers’ hands as we move forward.”
Apparently, he would pass over the coalition’s leadership to Kalonzo who if successfully makes his way to State House may lead the country for ten years- sealing Joho’s attempt to ascend to the country’s top leadership through NASA.
Joho is the ODM deputy party leader and is a close ally to Mr Odinga.
He is one of Jubilee’s greatest critics and during his political rallies in Coast and other regions of the country he openly restated his intention to run for president in 2022.
The county chief recently told Deputy President William Ruto that he would hand him a resounding defeat during the 2022 election.
Ruto has also shown interest in vying for the country’s top seat during the poll.
