The reason why Raila Odinga recruited Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto into NASA is to stop fellow NASA principals from conspiring the ODM leader, political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi says. The former Council of Governors chairman was last week recruited to join the National Super Alliance (NASA) coalition as the 5th principal, in what analysts see as an attempt to get some votes from the Rift Valley. According to political scientist Mutahi Ngunyi, who correctly predicted the outcome of the 2013 presidential race using the “tyranny of numbers” theory, Governor Rutto is “a Rift Valley politician who controls zero votes”. “Raila discovered that Kalonzo, Mudavadi and Wetangula were conspiring against him,” Mr Nyunyi said in his weekly political analysis update on YouTube. “And so he hatched their idea of expanding the number of NASA principals in order to dilute their influence,” Nyunyi said. “The more the NASA principals, the stronger Raila becomes — and the weaker Kalonzo, Mudavadi and Wetangula become,” he added. Governor Rutto has made it clear that he is not interested in becoming the NASA presidential candidate. He is expected to defend his seat in Bomet.
