Kiambu Township MP Jude Njomo has asked the police not to sow nay mercy to politicians and sympathizers who planned for NASA leader Raila Odinga’s Tuesday inauguration as the people’s president.
Speaking to journalists after a meeting with security officials at his Kiambu office on Friday, Njomo said that Raila and his allies deserve no mercy.
He said that the former Prime Minister and his allies have proven that they have no regards for the rule of law and as such must be treated as criminals.
“The government should not spare Raila and his allies who took part in the Tuesday illegal swearing in,” he said on Friday.
Njomo said that failure to punish Raila will be setting a wrong precedent for generations to come.
He said that the law has to be applied without favour adding that Raila is a risk to the country’s security if he goes unpunished.
“Raila must be punished for agreeing to take an illegal oath and the government must not give him space to continue agitating for violence,” the Jubilee lawmaker added.
Njomo said that Raila’s Tuesday inauguration was an embarrassment to the country’s democracy adding that it was shameful for Odinga to contravene the law he has been fighting for.
On Friday, National Resistance Movement (NRM) leader Miguna Miguna was arrested by flying squad police at his Runda home.
Police are said to have used force, blowing up Miguna’s gate to access the home before arresting him.
Miguna’s arrest sparked protests in some parts of Kibera with locals and supporters demanding for his release.
On Wednesday, police arrested Ruaraka MP T.J Kajwang over his leading role in Raila’s oath.
The MP was charged in court on Thursday with two counts of treason before being set free on Sh50,000 cash bail.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has vowed to deal with opposition politicians who administered the oath the government had termed illegal and highly treasonous.
