The latest Ipsos Synovate opinion poll results indicated that about 37 percent of registered voters are of the opinion that former Prime Minister Raila Odinga should not contest for the presidency in 2017.

These are the opinions of Kenyans explaining why Mr Odinga is not the best bet for the presidency in the 2017 general election.

I join this group that opposes the candidature of Mr Odinga.

It is true that Mr Odinga has significant backing from the Coast, Western, Eastern and Nyanza regions.

However, his greatest undoing is the fact that he does not manage party politics well.

He is one man who will give direct tickets to his cronies in the party especially those who come from his backyard including Senator Prof Anyang Nyongo, Jakoyo Midiwo and James Orengo irrespective of whether they have public support not.

I am truly disappointed by how he recently haphazardly handled Budalang'i MP Ababu Namwamba's complaints with regard to the 'mistreatment' in ODM.

Cord as a coalition is weakening as we approach next year's elections.

While Jubilee is working on a formula of coming up with a stronger Jubilee Party, their counterparts in Cord are experiencing incidents of defections.

If Mr Odinga waits to spend money from the prospective party aspirants who will hopelessly give fat offers to the coalition leader in order to win the nominations then I don't need to waste my vote to an already losing team.

It should be remembered that Jubilee spent a considerable amount of cash in the last election and still plans to spend heavily this year.

No wonder, there are rumours that currently, the coalition heads are behind the exits seen in Cord.

If Cord really wants my vote, then they must give room for young leaders, be ready to spend handsomely in their campaigns for them to stand out and invest in technology because those are what made the UhuRuto team to beat them in 2013.
