Opposition leader Raila Odinga has reiterated that he does not recognize the presidency of Uhuru Kenyatta and for that matter, he will be sworn in on December 12 by National Super Alliance (NASA) people's assembly.
After successfully filing a petition against the reelection of President Kenyatta on August 8th, NASA was given another opportunity to contest for the presidency. However, they pulled out of the repeat election citing an already determined process.
The swearing in call by Raila may fail to solve the political divisions in the country. This is because all the tools of power are with President Kenyatta whose presidency is captured by the law and constitution.
Jubilee party has also maintained that the political season has ended and the country must now focus on socio-economic growth in the next five years.
This leaves NASA without any other option other than resolving to dialogue with Jubilee on issues they have raised like exclusivity of some areas from leadership, marginalisation of some areas in terms of development among others.
If Raila continues to hold on to his hardline stand, then he may fail in his quest. The country may fail to bridge divisions already being witnessed. His push may just fail the way others, like Kizza Besigye's, failed in Uganda.
