Cord leader Raila Odinga is currently sounding a funny man if not a like a confused fella.

Immediately Jubilee Coalition announced on Tuesday their plans to merge 12 political parties into one big Jubilee Party, Odinga shot out in the media with a supersonic speed to comment on the new formation by his rivals.

In his press conference, Raila sounded like a jilted lover when he disapproved the new party saying that Jubilee government was trying to take Kenya to the old KANU days when the independence party was the the 'chama cha baba na mama'.

He was also quick to term the move as 'political prostitution which must come to an end'. But why was the opposition leader quick to comment on the new party more than he usually does when there are scandals in government, when the likes of Ababu Namwamba ditch his party, when his co-principals like Moses Wetangula tell him crowds don't mean votes and other stuff like that that require immediate reaction?

First, Raila is very shaken by the yet to be launched Jubilee Party. A local political analyst has been quoted as saying that Raila has never been shaken before as he has been shaken by the news of a new Jubilee Party. He says that Raila doesn't not know what to do as Jubilee continues to be on the offensive while eating into his strongholds.

The argument that Jubilee is taking Kenya into KANU days, the Jubilee pundit has termed it as 'lame kicks of a dying horse' while urging him to do the same with his Cord coalition.

Secondly, CORD, with less than a year to election, doesn't have a presidential flag bearer. On the other hand, Jubilee looks organised and determined to stay in power beyond 2032. This is something that has left Raila with sleepless nights. Pressure has also continued to mount on him to retire from politics and let one of his co-principals run for presidency come 2017.

This is without mentioning the pollsters who seem to have conspired against him. Another point, Raila Odinga is desperate to remain relevant as we edge closer to 2017 polls. With his party bleeding profusely and losing key figures with a lightning speed and him being unable to give satisfactory answers to the matter, you can only expect him to pick on any matter that will keep him on the headlines.

Cord being in a major quagmire on who to be their flagbearer, a matter that will test the coalition's unity going forward, is also something that Raila would rather not talk about at the moment.

With these realities facing Raila, he would rather bury his head in the sand and assume that they do not exist and pretend to help Jubilee.

His ODM Party in shambles and his coalition confused, his unsolicited advice to Jubilee many would agree, is a welcome thing.
