Garissa Township MP Aden Duale has rubbished claims that President Uhuru Kenyatta's government is afraid of arresting self-proclaimed people's president Raila Odinga after taking an illegal oath.

Speaking to journalists in Garissa Town on Sunday, Duale said that Raila is not above the law and that action will be taken against him.

The Jubilee MP said that the former Prime Minister was warned against taking the illegal oath but failed to heed to the government warning.

"Raila Odinga will not escape punishment for taking an illegal oath and I believe the police are working on his arrest and prosecution," the Garissa lawmaker said.

Duale said that Raila has no powers to stop or compromise his arrest and prosecution over the Tuesday illegal oath.

The MP at the same time said that Raila's alleged plot plunge the country into chaos failed on Tuesday.

He claimed that the opposition wanted Kenyans to fight in the name of Raila's swearing-in.

The MP lauded the ongoing police crackdown on opposition politicians and sympathizers who took part in Raila's inauguration.

Duale said that the crackdown will be a lesson to others who disregard the rule of law.

Raila took the oath of office as the people's president on Tuesday last week in an event that his deputy Kalonzo Musyoka skipped.

The government has vowed to deal firmly and ruthlessly with all people who planned and aided Raila's illegal oath.
