Members of a lobby group dubbed Daughters of Raila were on Saturday arrested for campaigning while President Uhuru Kenyatta was in town, Kenyans.co.ke has reported. The members were detained briefly before being released.

Police stopped their road show caravan and impounded three 4×4 vehicles. The vehicles of the campaigners are still at the police station in Nairobi.

The details of the arrest remain scanty. In the meantime, Raila, who is taking a fourth stab at the Presidency has maintained that he will not take part in the repeat election if the members of Parliament aligned to Jubilee will go ahead to pass the controversial election amendments.

The leaders of the opposition have been pointed an accusing finger at Jubilee for attempting to change the rules of the game at halftime. On his part, Uhuru has insisted that he will beat Raila hands down when that time comes.

The head of state has also said that he is not ready for a power-sharing deal with the opposition. “There will be no such thing as a nusu mkate (coalition) government, not even a slice,” he said.
