[Photo/ The Star] NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga’s narrative of being a Joshua who will take Kenya to the ‘promised land’ is a tired idea that should be dropped immediately, political scientist Mutahi Ngunyi has said.  The respected analyst, who correctly predicted the outcome of the 2013 presidential election using the tyranny of numbers theory, says Raila cannot call himself Joshua when he is not affiliated with any religion.  “Raila is a tired idea. And calling himself Joshua has been a disaster,” Mr Ngunyi says in his weekly analysis of the presidential race.  The former university don faults the ODM leader for not learning when political tactics are not working.  “It has not worked. The Joshua imagery is not believable. The more he has tried to sell it, the more we have rejected him as Joshua,” he says in his 5th Estate YouTube video channel.  “We are not even sure of his faith,” he adds.  The scientist then brings up accusations of Raila’s alleged association with witchcraft. “The question here is simple: can Raila be Joshua and be accused of doing witchcraft at the same time? Is it possible for Joshua to have been accused of witchcraft? Not possible.”  The analyst’s verdict is that Raila’s Joshua narrative is officially dead.
