Elections and campaigns are about garnering majority number of votes, and the opposition, under the stewardship of Raila Odinga is very much aware of this. This is why he endorsed Farah Maalim to represent the people of Garissa Township.
However, going by the grass root politics in the county, Odinga may not reap much from the county. Already, several politicians have stood and expressed their interests in battling Raila's endorsements.
Recently, Governor Nathif Jama made a public declaration that revealed his allegiance to Wiper Party and subsequently the cord opposition. To add up to Jama's firm stay in Wiper party, Kalonzo Musyoka, who happens to be the party leader is still in a major dominance contest with Raila and Wetangula.
In the event that Kalonzo fails to get endorsement as the opposition's presidential flag bearer, there is a possibility that he may stand to vie in his own Wiper ticket. This notwithstanding, Ali Korane is a man to watch. He has indicated that he will strive to unseat Jama, and more importantly his clan has already given him a go ahead.
Back to Garissa township, Duale is the man to tackle Raila's Farah Maalim who is gradually losing grip in local politics.
Yussuf Haji is another kingpin in the regional politics. Analysts say he is unbeatable come the 2017 elections. Given the fact that he was elected under The National Alliance that has since merged to become Jubilee party, Haji's votes in the region will definitely be channeled to Uhuru's basket, and eventually making Raila a runner up in the county tally.
