ODM leader Raila Odinga was forced to cut short his speech several times during a rally at Changamwe’s Volleyball ground on Wednesday evening.
An irritated Raila was at one point forced to warn the rowdy youths, who waved twigs, that they would be ejected from the venue.
“If you came here for the meeting then keep quiet. If you came here to cause chaos, you will be ejected…keep quiet…young men keep quiet because I have come here with a very serious message,” he said as quoted by the Nation.
The heckling, however, did not stop forcing Raila to order security personnel to bring one of the shouting youth to the podium to explain why he was misbehaving.
“Bring that youth here…bring him here to me,” said the former prime minister.
On his part, the young man accused area MP Omar Mwinyi of abandoning them since he was elected to Parliament in 2013, and had only returned to campaign for Raila.
However, this did not deter the youth from further heckles, forcing the security men to eject them from the venue.
When they got out of the venue, they started hurling stones inside the volleyball pitch, but the security personnel and police managed to chase them away completely.
In his speech, Raila urged the youth to register in large numbers so as to participate in the forthcoming elections.
