The DP openly evaded the discussion when he attended an interdenominational prayer service in Turbo constituency, in his Uasin Gishu backyard on Sunday, despite the topic dominating the event.

Keter was arrested at the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) on Friday for an alleged forgery of Sh633 million treasury bills, an arrest a section of Rift Valley leaders have blamed on Ruto and President Uhuru Kenyatta citing their recent parliamentary leadership row with the young leader.

Ruto is therefore aware that defending himself, which will automatically throw him to the President's side, could affect his 2022 presidential bid as he will need the same leaders to drum up support for him at the grass root level.

Siding with the controversial lawmaker, who is facing fraud charges, will on the other hand contradict his recent calls for the adherence to the rule of law, creating the impression of a leader who cannot stand by his word.

President Uhuru Kenyatta, despite being the biggest suspect in the matter, according to Keter's allies, is also yet to comment on the same.
