They say politics is a game of numbers. Alliances of political parties dictate the outcome of any election.

The most coveted seat is the presidency, and here is why Deputy President William Samoei Ruto could become the president of Republic of Kenya come 2022.

DP Ruto has climbed the political ladder from humble beginnings.

Retired president Daniel Moi played a major role in his success by appointing him as a youth in Kanu back in 1990s. Since then, Ruto has never looked back. His ambitions have brought him to where he is today.

The truth of the matter is that, together with President Uhuru Kenyatta, they united two groups which were rivals for over 30 years - the Kikuyus and Kalenjins.

Nobody ever knew that the two communities would unite and work together. The two communities also form the majority of votes when combined, a factor the two will majorly be relying on in addition to votes from other regions.

As per the agreement, the two communities will support Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election bid in 2017 and will in turn back Ruto in 2022.

Despite claims that people from Central Kenya ‘cannot be trusted’ and there is no guarantee that they will back Ruto to occupy the white house on the hill, truth be told that majority will still support the deputy President.

People from Central Kenya have heavily invested in the Rift Valley and so they will have to abide by the deal in supporting DP Ruto for the country's top seat.

The President and his deputy share a lot of things in common which proves that Central will support Ruto after Uhuru's tenure.

One of the similarities was the ICC which build a strong bond between the duo and which will be very hard to be dismissed.

However, all the ICC cases have since collapsed.
