DP William Ruto. He is not pleased with Uhuru's recent three nominees into the cabinet. [Photo: kenya-today.com]The naming of former Marsabit Governor Ukuru Yattani, John Munyes, and former DPP Keriako Tobiko has not gone down well with DP William Ruto, according to Sunday Nation.Ruto successfully campaigned against Yattani by supporting the current Governor Mohamud Ali, the former NHIF chairman who ran on a Jubilee ticket. It will, therefore, be awkward for Ruto to sit in the same cabinet with the same person he helped trounce from office. However, Uhuru had made it clear during the campaigns in the area that whoever lost the race between the two would get a state job. Seems he has kept his word.
In the case of the former DPP, Ruto is said to hold the view that a grounded politician from Maasailand would have sufficed. A politician who would help rally the community to his ticket in the next General Election, says the Nation.
Finally, Ruto is said to have rallied governors to hand ODM's Turkana Governor Josephat Nanok another term at the helm of the Council of Governors against President Kenyatta’s preferred choice, Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya. This is a deal analysts say is hinged on a possible 2022 alliance with Nanok. Ruto could, therefore, be having misgivings about Munyes who comes from the same region. Nanok is more popular on the ground having beaten the Munyes at the polls.
