Deputy President William Ruto has said he is willing to form a new political alliance ahead of 2022. According to the DP, he is willing to form an alliance with politicians from the Coast region.
Speaking in Garsen town on Wednesday, Ruto explained that he acknowledged the efforts of Kilifi GovernorAmason Kingi and other leaders who have been at the forefront of a push to form a new regional party.
The region is majority considered an opposition stronghold with ODM leader Raila Odinga garnering many votes from the past two general election. Ruto declared that the region would no longer be swayed by 'Tibim' or 'Tialala', a sly reference to Odinga's campaign slogans.
“Coast will not be taken for granted this time, it will not be swayed by ‘tibim’ and ‘tialala’. This time Coast leaders will sit and consult to know their ambitions, needs and the issues they want in the political arena,” he stated.
This comes even as a number of leaders from the region have expressed their willingness to work with Ruto.
