In my opinion, 2017 general election, Deputy President William Ruto made one of the worst political mistakes in Rift Valley which will haunt him in his political ambitions of being the next President of Kenya.
Here are some of his past deeds which will haunt him as we head for 2022;
Destroying influential politicians
Let’s begin with Bomet County. During the last election, former Bomet Governor Isaack Ruto was moving masses with his CCM Party as he vied for second term.
DP Ruto saw it and was not happy with it and in the process, he worked day and night to advocate and campaigned for the current Governor Joyce Laboso.
Note that Isaack had more influence than Joyce in Bomet County and entire south Rift but the winning of Laboso was attributed to Ruto’s support.
In future, political analysts believe that Isaack, with his influence will never support Ruto’s ambition and he will galvanize his influence for election of another candidate apart from Ruto.
In Kuresoi South, the same Deputy mobilized people to vote against veteran politician and government servant Hon. Zakayo Cheruiyot, simply because Cheruiyot failed to sing his tune.
Cheruiyot, who is Moi’s ally is also influential politician in South Rift and he might definitely not support his bid for presidential race.
Last month, there were demomnstrations in Eldoret and Nandi Hills, all accusing William Ruto of playing role behind nullification of Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter.
Other prominent politician who doesn’t go well with DP William Ruto includes Senetor Gideon Moi of Baringo County, Emuruo Dikir MP Johanna Ngeno and Eldoret governor Jackson Mandago.
If Ruto will fail to unite such politicians, then his presidency ambitions will not be a walk in the park.
