Deputy President William Ruto was on Wednesday jeered in Kisumu and not allowed to talk during the relaunch of East African Breweries's plant.

Angry youths disrupted the peace of the event, chanting antagonising slogans.

The Deputy President was forced to prematurely give up the microphone as the crowd kept shouting, “We don’t want Ruto” when the government leader began to speak.

Ruto has been viewed as NASA's biggest enemy in the Jubilee regime after being marred with several accusations of corruption.

Several comentators have gone to social media to interpret the reason why the lake city turned hostile against the DP.

Amos Koskey Arap Bii said:

"They jeered Ruto in Kisumu, it's quite understandable,THEY HATE HIM WITH A PASSION,Ruto is the reason why the ancient ancestor they worship like god is suffering in opposition in his twilight years,HE SINGLE HANDEDLY SENT HIM THERE!"

Odamba Odambatafwa said Ruto was jeered because of his incessant strong words he directs at Raila Odinga.

"The people are not happy with Ruto cz of his constant abuse of RAO."

Holman Ouko Ongoro said the DP was his own enemy. He said:

Ruto has learnt that he is the problem.......we simply don't like him,no one likes him.....wajaluo we have no problem with kalenjins at all at all except this DP.......we have no problem with uhuru we just want him out of government

Evans Bett said:

"Poor paid to heckle out Dp. Ruto...We know Kisumu is stronghold to NASA and we don't expect so much love!!!"

Richard Outa said:

"The same happened to NASA in Kabarnet (Baringo) bro, but the youth are being misled. Unabuyiwa kichwiri ya 50bob uende u heckle mtu."

However, there were positives from the discussion. Cleaophas Nasio said:

"Most likely people dont think at all or they are so tribal to embrace reality...neither Raila nor Ruto cares about whether what they say will spur hatred. Tribalism is the only reason they prosper, because they make tribesmen believe that they are ones protecting them from some perceived oppression. Wajinga ndio waliwao, na Wakenya wengi ni wajinga kupindikia."
