Deputy President William Ruto and Cord leader Raila Odinga have become fierce political 'enemies'.
They have criticised each other in public, calling each other names, and disputing the word of the other.
The two were once good friends who were united in one party, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.
However, the two fell out before the 2013 general election leading to Ruto merging his URP party with other parties like TNA to form the Jubilee Alliance.
Jubilee alliance won the 2013 election making William Ruto the vice-president.
Having won against Raila, Ruto won the bragging rights at all levels. However, the DP should not completely despise the Cord leader.
Having declared his interest to vie for presidency in 2022, Ruto should consider approaching Raila Odinga and ask for his support in 2022.
Raila has the voting power of the Nyanza, most parts of Western and most parts of the Coastal regions. With all these areas, Raila can endorse Ruto in 2022 hence a possible victory.
The two are currently sworn 'enemies' in politics but 2022 is still far away and Ruto can still approach Raila before 2022 election.
Kenyans should however understand that politicians are never enemies and they should not be surprised to see Raila supporting Ruto in 2022.
