First and foremost, Ruto is already losing influence in Rift Valley after Baringo Senator Gideon Moi and Chama Cha Mashinani Leader Isaac Ruto declared war against him. Ruto and Moi among other leaders have faulted Ruto for failing to push for the empowerment of their people.

The governor has pledged to deliver 1.5 million to the opposition while the senator claims he (DP Ruto) wants to finish him politically in order to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta. The lawmaker will have an uphill task in countering the duo ahead of the August general polls.

Secondly,  Ruto cannot bank on the Kikuyu community to back him for Presidency. The voters from this community are known to vote for their own in the past general elections and they are likely to do the same when that time comes.

The Deputy is likely to have nowhere to run to if the Kikuyu community refuses to back him to succeed Uhuru.

Thirdly, President Uhuru Kenyatta is not assured of re-election. If Jubilee loses in August, then Ruto dream of becoming the head of State will be as a good as dead. The Deputy President will have it tough mending fences to unseat National Super Alliance(NASA).
