His utterances come following days of sustained pressure on the Bungoma Senator to relinquish his position amid claims that he is ' mismanaging' the party.

According to Dr Khalwale, activist Ken Wafula who is being fronted by the anti-Wetangula faction to take over the leadership from the beleaguered Senator is not a member of the party.

"From our records, Wafula vied for the Senate seat in Trans Nzoia in 2013 through Safina Party. He has never defected to Ford Kenya. He is not a member and as such, he should keep off Ford Kenya affairs," Khalwale was quoted by the Star as saying.

The Kakamega senator added that Wafula is used by some forces to create an impression that Wetangula is under siege.

He maintained that Wetangula is a popular leader and that those doubting his popularity should be prepared for a rude shock come election period.

It has been trying moments for the Senator who has set his eyes on Presidency with the open rebellion within his own party being attributed what his critics call 'perilous leadership'.
