The leaders have been accused of hoarding money released for voters mobilisation and also acting in favoritism.

One of the most affected areas is Nyeri county which has just managed to net in 32,223 new voters contrary to the expected number of 161,359.

The situation has forced former Kenya Defense Forces chief Julius Karangi to call for a crisis meeting with all aspirants on Monday to deliberate on the matter.

“The foundation wanted trucks to concentrate on campaigning in town centers while we wanted them in the villages and in remote areas,” said former Kenya Dairy Board MD Machira Gichohi.

“How do you give money to Nairobians to come mobilise voters in Nyeri and you do not involve locals who are not politicians?”  Knut Executive Secretary Mutahi Kahiga said.

Mathira MP Peter Weru said politicians had been left out.

"The voter mobilisation cash is not being put to use and is instead being spent it in luxury places," Nyeri Town MP Esther Murugi said.

Jubilee supporters in Kirinyaga have also accused Interior Permanent Secretary Karanja Kibicho of meddling with the voter registration exercise.
