The Nation Media Group has ruled out any possibility of selling the company.

This is after reports circulated on social media that the government was planning to buy the media giant.

Speaking during an investor briefing on Wednesday, NMG chairman Wilfred Kiboro called on Kenyans to ignore the rumors.

Kiboro said that there are no plans to sell the company to the state due to existing debts.

He said that the government owes the company Sh700 million.

“What we can promise everybody here is we will report the truth,” he told the meeting at Stanley Hotel.

Last week during the visit of the Aga Khan, there was speculations that his talks with President Uhuru Kenyatta will be centered on selling NMG.

The Aga Khan is the largest shareholder in NMG.
