Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has said he is not happy with retired Chief Justice Willy Mutunga.
Mr Khalwale said residents of Kakamega County were equally unhappy with Dr Mutunga.
But why is the senator and residents of the county he represents at the Senate unhappy with the former CJ?
Khalwale claims that the Judiciary under Dr Mutunga diverted funds meant for the construction of the court in Kakamega to Kirinyaga County.
He told the Senate on Thursday that Parliament had allocated Sh280 million for the construction of a modern court in Kakamega but the funds were later transferred to Kirinyaga.
"The Sh280 million allocated for the construction of a court building in Kakamega was transferred to Kirinyaga County where a court has been reconstructed," the vocal senator said.
Dr Mutunga retired on Thursday June 16.
For the last five years when he headed the Judiciary, the institution has undergone tremendous improvement with the construction of courts across the country.
He retired at 69 shortly after celebrating his birthday.
