Nyamira Senator Kennedy Mong'are says he's drafting a motion in which he seeks to impeach President Uhuru Kenyatta accusing him of gross violation of the constitution.
Speaking on Thursday during a press briefing at Parliament buildings, the Senator accused Uhuru of going against the oath of office that he took before assuming office among them the failure to end the ongoing doctors' strike which he stated has led to the death of several Kenyans.
"These are acts that border on gross violation of the constitution. Uhuru must be held accountable for leaving Kenyans to die at the mercy of the enemy and then failing to report to the House on facts about the attacks," the Senator argued as quoted by the Star.
"It will be a calling on the senators to rise to the occasion to defend the constitution. My motion is not about the tyranny of numbers but a challenge to the senators to live up the oath of office," he added.
For a presidential impeachment motion to see the light of the day, it must be supported by at least a third of all the members.
