Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior could succeed Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka as the Kamba political kingpin, political analyst Peter Ngure has said.
Ngure observes that Mutula Junior who succeed his deceased father Mutula Kilonzo is slowly making a political name in Ukambani.
In an interview on Monday, the analyst said that Mutula Junior has established himself as a sober, composed and calm politician who is keen on fighting for common people.
The analyst notes that Mutula Junior’s richness in legal issues and law profession gives him an upper hand and a better chance to replace Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka as the Kamba political leader.
“I think the young Mutula Kilonzo Junior has the potential and could be the next big Kamba politician in the near future,” he said.
Ngure said that Mutula Junior close engagement with his constituents in Makueni and Ukambani people is winning him support across the region.
Ngure says that Kalonzo could endorse the senator should he decide to quit politics now.
There have been claims that the Makueni senator is getting prepared to succeed Makueni Governor Professor Kivutha Kibwana in 2022.
Kibwana, who is also Wiper party acting national chairman is serving his second and final term.
Mutula Junior has, however, refuted claims of lobbying for the seat, noting that he is contented serving the people in the Senate.
The youthful politician is serving his second term in the Senate after succeeding his late father in 2013.
Political analysts have been arguing that Kalonzo’s tenure as the Kamba kingpin is slowly coming to an end with Machakos governor Alfred Mutua being hinted to take over from the former Vice President.
Majority of Wiper politicians have however rubbished the claims maintaining that Kalonzo is still the Kamba community political kingpin.
