One of the most sensitive political topic is the city's gubernatorial seat. This hot issue has attracted national concern and Cord as well as Jubilee are handling it cautiously.
The son from Kamba land has found himself at the center of this heated debate. Sonko has been forced to make serious political statements that have threatened the political class including veterans.
He started with the sentiments of a possible reunion with Cord, warning Musyoka and currently Nairobi's Jubilee nominations among others.
He claims he is the only great choice thus there is no need for nominations. Sonko said the worst mistake Jubilee can make is to gamble with the hot city seat.
If his political faction does not listen to his warning then the senator concludes that they will be destined to lose it to Cord. The outspoken senator said that Nairobians know that he is what Jubilee must field in 2017 if they want a landslide victory.
Mbuvi adds that he is free to work with any running mate that will be chosen by Jubilee. He proposes nominations for the deputy governor but opposes gubernatorial nominations.
He said, “We should not play poker with the governorship of Nairobi or we will lose it. The people of Nairobi know that I am the best bet for Jubilee. There should be no nominations for the governorship in the Jubilee Party, but we can have nominations to elect my running mate.”
