Sonko said he will seek nomination under Jubilee Party and described the media reports as "propaganda” by some “malicious politicians”.

“It has come to my attention that some malicious politicians are out to confuse our supporters and the great people of Nairobi County that the Jubilee Party has struck a deal on a line up for the August elections,” said the senator, in a Facebook post on Sunday.

The senator had claimed he was offered money by Peter Kenneth to step down in the race for governorship. The former Gatanga MP has, however, denied the allegations.

Sonko assured his supporters that he is in the race for Nairobi governorship.

“Further, I wish to assure my supporters that no such arrangement has been reached and that I am fully prepared and ready to face any opponent during the Jubilee Party nominations,” he said.

The race for Nairobi’s top seat is expected to be hot, as several aspirants bid to unseat incumbent Governor Evans Kidero.

Those interested in the seat are: Sonko, Dagoretti MP Dennis Waweru, Margaret Wanjiru, Nominated MP Johnson Sakaja and lawyer Miguna Miguna.
