Drama in the political scenes is miles from over in Nairobi with the recent days experiencing unprecedented temperatures over key politicians.
On Saturday, Nairobi governor Mike Sonko grabbed the microphone at the National Tree Planting vent in Eastleigh where Deputy President William Ruto had been invited to speak.
Sonko explained that he grabbed the device because he was being unfairly sabotaged.
The governor said that the State House protocol had listed him among the key speakers at the event but the master of ceremonies had gone ahead to skip him from the list.
Environment and Forestry CS Keriako Tobiko had completed his speech and invited the deputy president but Sonko would have none of that.
"I think the State House programme is very clear. That im supposed to... your excellency the Statehouse programme is very clear after the anthem is the governor of Nairobi speaking then invite the minister then the deputy president then you your Excellency. hii mambo ya kuniundermine tafadhalini tuacheni. (Please let us stop this issue of undermining me)
This, according to Sonko, was an antic by some individuals to downplay the power of his office and so he grabbed the microphone as a way of protest.
