Nairobi Governor aspirant Mike Sonko has threatened to abandon Jubilee should the party conduct botched primaries in April.

Sonko, a staunch supporter of President Uhuru Kenyatta, told Citizen Digital that he will not accept flawed nomination exercise.

"If Jubilee messes up with party nominations, I will not hestitate to ditch the party I have helped build. The exercise must be transparent, free and fair," said the Nairobi Senator.

The flamboyant Senator and his 'Team Nairobi' have trashed the Jubilee Smart Card as an identity for party nominations and asked for a none smart card nomination.

Sonko is expected to face off former Starehe MP Margaret Wanjiru and 2013 presidential contender Peter Kenneth in the race for JP ticket.

'Team Nairobi' of Sonko and Wanjiru say they will run as a ticket ahead of the Jubilee primaries.

The duo further told Citizen Digital that whoever wins in the primaries will pick the other as running mate, exuding confidence of winning the Jubilee governor ticket in credible nominations.

Both Sonko and Kenneth camps have ruled out a consensus and have dared each for a duel during the party’s nominations.

Kenneth, the former Gatanga MP has accused Sonko of engaging in insults, adding that he cannot engage in meaningful talks with him.

“There is no point in sitting with people who want to abuse you. You can’t have a decent conversation,” Kenneth said on Wednesday as quoted by the Nation.
