According to the institution's Chief Principal Josphat Sawe, this is due to the government’s deliberate measures to support Technical Training Institutions leading to increased enrolment.

“The shortage of lecture rooms in the institution is now overwhelming and has forced the management to hire tents which are used as lecture rooms and also hire rooms at the neighboring institutions for students to undertake their studies,” said Sawe at the institution's premises, Thursday.

“As I am talking, the number of students has increased from 7,810 to 10,010 leading to overstretch of the available resources and also a shortage of lecturers to handle such a large number of students,” he added.

Sawe noted that some of the new students are those who qualified to join various universities but preferred to study at the institution due to the available infrastructure and facilities.

He said the institution needs to build 13 new lecture rooms to solve the problem and be able to cater for the increased number of students and urged the National government to help them financially.
