The weight on Chief Justice David Maraga's shoulders is indeed a heavy one and, if not well checked, it can kill the spirit of the solitary man who bears its burden.

As Chinua Achebe once put it, when you choose to heap the madness of an entire nation in the head of one man, it would be an understatement to assert that the man is merely mad!

I feel that as a nation, we have left Judge Maraga and his lean team of 'surgeons' to split the skull of our national psyche in a desperate move to find out the source of our madness.

As a nation, we wait with bated breath the pronouncement from the good judge as to where we should head next as a nation.

I have a feeling that whatever Judge Maraga will pronounce in his judgment will be inconsequential as Kenyans have already pulled in their different directions depending on their political allegiance.

Like a morgue physician, Maraga has no duty other than to confirm that we are indeed dead as a nation.

I pity the good soul of Judge Maraga. I sympathise with him for his spirited fight to restore sanity in a nation that has chosen insanity.

Next time you see Judge Maraga kneel down in a church on Saturday, do not hesitate to say a word of prayer to the good Lord to keep showing the wisdom of Azdak in the head of the good Judge.

Indeed, no single Kenyan envies Maraga's position and many a Kenyan has been seen whispering silent thanks-giving prayers to the good Lord for not creating him/her to be David Maraga.

A number have even pleaded with the great deity not to reincarnate them as Judge Maraga in the next life.
