If you are one of the individuals who have already set a clock for President Uhuru Kenyatta and is busy counting down his days in office, you might have to put it on hold.
Being only 56 years old and set to retire in 2022 at 60 years, one must have been wondering what will be his next move. Well, Tiaty Member of Parliament Hon. William Kamtet is set to restore President Uhuru's political lifeline if his new proposed bill is passed into law.
This is by far the most controversial Bill this year that has set tongues wagging and a heated showdown is slowly looming.
The Bill proposes a change in the current laws so that we have a one-term President who is elected by Members of Parliament and a Prime Minister who is elected by the people and will have a lot of powers than the President.
Now that President Kenyatta is due to retire in 2022 and cannot vie again for the Presidency if the Bill is passed by the house and signed into law, it then clears President Uhuru Kenyatta to contest in the 2022 general elections for the Prime Minister position.
Deputy President Ruto's camp will be most affected for they have been gunning for the top seat for the past six years. His friends are already reading mischief in the new bill accusing President Uhuru's camp of planning to shot change them.
However, House Majority Leader Aden Duale has come out to clarify that every Member of Parliament has a right to generate a Bill and it is upon the entire House to debate and put it to a vote.
He further stated that Jubilee as a party has no hand in the Bill by the KANU Member of Parliament.
