National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga is at a pole position to harvest votes from some 6 per cent of Kenyans who are yet to decide on their preferred candidates, a political analyst has said.
Two recent opionion polls show a neck and neck battle between Odinga and president Uhuru Kenyatta though none of them scored the requisite fifty plus one vote to avoid a run off. However there is a 6 per cent undecided voting bloc that could catapult either of the candidates to victory on August 8.
Speaking Tuesday, David Osiany told Citizen TV that Odinga would no doubt reap the undecided votes after having chosen to attended the presidential debate held on Monday.
Osiany said the former prime minister managed to appeal to the undecided group through a national platform from which he addressed a myriad of issues he seeks to address should he be elected president.
He added that Uhuru's decision to snub the debate granted Odinga an opportunity to clarify the Nasa agenda uninterrupted, a move he said enabled him to reach a majority of Kenyans.
"I believe Mr Odinga has won the hearts of the undecided voters having appeared at the presidential debate. He was able to clarify on the Nasa agenda in an unrivaled national platform," he said.
Osiany believes that President Kenyatta has himself to blame for failing to appear in a debate that was aired across several TV channels and radio stations across the country.
