The County government of Taita Taveta has set aside Sh150 million for the financial year 2018/2019 up from previous Sh60 million in the previous years.
Governor Granton Samboja said the fund will cater for education bursaries, student loans and scholarships.
Bursaries will receive Sh60 million, scholarships Sh33 million, loans Sh52.5 million and administrative costs Sh14.5 million, according to the county boss.
He made the statement when he officially inaugurated an eleven member County Education Fund Board after they were successfully vetted by the County Assembly.
"My administration will support the new team to ensure that we improve to a greater extent the education standards in our County," he said on Saturday.
