Even your body needs a holiday! Many people are so invested in the gym that their body hardly has time to rest. In bodybuilding, more time spent exercising does not always result in better outcomes.
Sometimes the opposite is true. It is natural that if you’re looking to have a toned body, you might be tempted to workout daily so as achieve your goals within the shortest time possible. You might, however, fail to reap much from the efforts put in when you go overboard.
Your muscle needs rest to grow and straining it may be counterproductive, especially if you want to grow mass. Your muscles get complacent when you overtrain. Muscles often grow during rest periods or workout interludes.
By exercising one muscle group daily, you risk exhausting and stymieing its growth. Muscle memory explains this phenomenon. When you exercise a body part daily, your muscles become all too familiar with the workout regime and stunts its growth. It is noteworthy that strength training creates tiny tears forms in the working muscles, which needs repair and recovery to work optimally.
Your body repairs strained muscles by pumping blood to the affected muscles to develop new tissues. Therefore, training hard daily strain your muscles and makes them fatigued. If you do not factor recovery time into your exercise routine, the process of recovery and repair won’t take place and your muscles will not grow.
If you want to grow your muscles you should train different muscle group separately, on different days so your body can grow. For instance, if you work out your upper body on Monday, you should exercise your lower anatomy the following day to give the latter time to rest, repair and grow. That’s the best way to trick your muscle memory.
