Traders at Limuru main market want the establishment re-opened one year after it was closed for rehabilitation.
The traders who spoke to the media on Sunday said the market's closure had adversely affected their business activities.
Led by their chairman Stephen Kuria, they told Governor Ferdinand Waititu to ensure the market is rehabilitated quickly and facilitate its re-opening so as they resume their normal operations.
Kuria said the contractor assigned to rehabilitate the market was too slow in renovations works.
"Most of the traders do their work along the road and they get rained on when it rains," Kuria said.
Some of them carry their merchandise back home when they close work. This has raised the cost of their operations. The county government should let us know when rehabilitation work will end."
Kuria said as a result of selling merchandise at the roadside, a businessman recently lost his life when he was hit by a speeding car as he attended to a customer. The man, he said, died on the spot.
The county government at the time the market was closed said rehabilitation works will help modernize the establishment and make traders' work efficient.
Part of the rehabilitation works entail fitting security lights at the market.
