American President Donald d Trump may shift his focus to Kenya and her neighboring Uganda, to quell simmering political tensions in the two strategic nations, says Stella Omari.

While Kenya’s political elites are embroiled in squabbles over suitability of electoral body IEBC to hold elections, in Uganda, opposition legislators have opposed decision to drop presidential age limit.

And Omari says US interest in tourism and war against terror would precipitate Trump’s urgent intervention to salvage the situation.

“US have an interest in both countries and expect him (Trump) to talk about it soon. He won’t just watch the two countries’s sinking.

“America partners with the two countries in boosting stability in Somalia and South Sudan and most of his soldiers train in Kenya. The two countries are also in the front line to fight terror,” she says, adding that the US may break her silence soonest.

A constitutional crisis is looming in Kenya with President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga clashing over the October 26th repeat polls.

At Uganda, President Yoweri Museveni is keen to delete the presidential age limit clause to extend his 30 – years rule in power from the current 75 years age limit.
