US President Donald Trump will not attend a session where President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to address the G7 summit in Quebec, Canada.

Kenyatta will be speaking on protecting and preserving the oceans, under the theme “Healthy, Productive and Resilient Oceans and Seas, Coasts and Communities” today.

According to BBC, Trump is due to today leave the US for Singapore for a landmark meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

"He will leave well before the end of this G7 summit: next stop Singapore, to face Kim Jong-un. Trump will miss the talks on climate change, the environment and probably gender equality on Saturday," the BBC reports.

The five themes for this year's summit are: Inclusive economic growth, Gender equality and women's empowerment, World security, Jobs of the future, Climate change and oceans.

G7 is an annual summit bringing together Canada, the US, the UK, France, Italy, Japan and Germany, which represent more than 60% of global net worth between them.

Russia was a member before it was suspended in 2014 after annexing Crimea of Ukraine.
