Political memorandum with NASA principals, strict constitutional pronouncements and advanced age defines Raila Odinga's sunset days in politics, says Gideon Mamboleo.

At Kasarani on Tuesday, President Uhuru Kenyatta will be taking oath of office for the final term, a move that even complicates Odinga's chances.

"Once Uhuru takes oath, constitutionally Odinga has nothing left unless he uses unconstitutional means which is much unlikely," he says.

Having abandoned repeat polls, Odinga has diverted his attention to People's Assembly which analysts claim would lead to secession.

And with a political memorandum with NASA leaders, 2017 was his last realistic chance to clinch presidency, a move that was outsmarted by Uhuru.

"He is in advanced age and cannot betray the likes of Kalonzo Musyoka in the next elections. Ideally, he is not a past tense in Kenyan political arena."

But Mamboleo says Odinga can force a dialogue with Uhuru which may not necessarily offer him political reprieve adding that Uhuru will remain the legally elected president.
