It is every parent's dream to see their children succeed in life. However, this desire at times is not fulfilled as one such scenario where a mother is in agony over her daughters' behavior.
Margaret Jepkoech Lagat, who hails from Turbo in Uasin Gishu county is in despair after her three daughters she had totally believed that they would achieve their ambitions in life turned to immoral behavior at the university.
Speaking to a local daily, Margaret said her first daughter joined Moi university to pursue Commerce. She was so respectful and charismatic lady until her third year where her behavior totally changed.
"In her third year, she couldn't neither call home nor pick our calls, so we secretly traveled to the university to look for her," said Margaret.
"We were shown her residence by a certain student and when we entered her room, I nearly fainted. All kinds of drugs were all over the room ranging from alcohol to cigarettes," narrated the mother with tears rolling.
When she saw her parents, the daughter vanished. The parents tried all they could to change her life but it bore no fruits. Finally, she got pregnant and dropped from the university and lived her own life in one of the town's estates.
"We persuaded her to return to the university to complete her studies but she declined," said the agitated mother.
Margaret said her daughter is now living a desperate life. She does not heed an ear to her since she is now a drug addict.
In 2014, she invited various motivational speakers and preachers to talk to her two daughters who were too joining the university. She didn't want them to take the same part as their sister.
"They promised to work hard in school and never to indulge in drug abuse," she said.
Unfortunately, one who was studying at South Eastern university got pregnant in her first year.
"I didn't want her to drop from university, so I hired a house help. She continued with her studies until the third year where she got pregnant again," narrated Margaret.
Her sister too studying at another university got pregnant in her second year. To make the matters worse, their boyfriends did not take responsibility.
Margaret has been left taking care of the children for her daughters to complete their studies. It has been pain and agony to her.
