The youthful MP has ditched the Raila Odinga-led party and joined the newly formed Movement for Democratic Change and Growth (MDG), an outfit that is said to be spearheaded by a group of youthful MPs from Nyanza and Western region.

Ochieng is among the few MPs from the region that is considered to be Raila's stronghold whose loyalty to the party had been brought to question.

He had in the past indicated that he may consider dumping the giant party amid concerns that he may be rigged out during the nominations.

“I have performed well under the ODM and a time has come for me to try another party because I feel that I may be ‘shortchanged’ “, the lawmaker said.

According to the legislator, Raila remains his preferred presidential candidate in the August 8, poll. However, he said the party will field candidates in other elective positions.
