Kenya is likely to witness multiple contests between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga in many months to come, says lawyer Moseti Moseti.

Although opposition is yet to endorse October 17th as the date for Presidential election repeat, Jubilee team maintains that it is ready to face Odinga anytime as IEBC may decide.

But strict constitutional clauses may yet again subject the country in an electioneering mood for many months to come due to tight contest between the two.

“Ordinarily, the two will face each other in a fresh election. If one of them is dissatisfied with the outcome, he may yet again file a court petition whose repercussions we all know.

“Should none get the required percentage to be declared President-Elect, the country will yet again have a runoff in 30 days time, which is also subject to court contest,” he says.

Odinga, 72, will yet again have another chance to run again Uhuru Kenyatta for the third time in just less than five years period.

IEBC has 60 days to carry out fresh presidential elections and could be under microscope from international community.
