President Uhuru Kenyatta has cancelled his tour to Western region a day after calling off another tour to Mount Kenya region.

In a statement to news rooms, Tuesday, State House spokesman Manoah Esipisu said the president has opted to sought out nomination matters within his Jubilee party.

“This is the last week provided by the IEBC for political parties to submit their nominations list. President Kenyatta wants nominees to focus on this important democratic process,” read part of the statement.

“The president is keen to ensure that all processes are fulfilled as required by guidelines provided for by the necessary institutions mandated to ensure a credible nominations process is carried out,” Esipisu noted.

“Dates for these tours will be communicated at a later date,” he added.

Uhuru was scheduled to visit Kakamega, Busia, Bungoma and Trans-Nzoia counties starting March 28, in a move to drum up support for his re-election in the forthcoming August polls.
