Joho was arrested, Friday, after he went to the Urban police station to demand for the release of a friend.

He was released seven hours later alongside Kilifi governor Amason Kingi and other coastal leaders.

In a statement, ODM claimed that Joho was being thoroughly shaken by the government for failing to join President Uhuru Kenyatta's team.

"It is an open secret that governor Joho’s distress began the day he rejected overtures by the government to lead a mass defection from the Opposition to Jubilee. Since then, he stood firm in the defence of the people of the Coast and mostly those who live as squatters on their own land. The fact that Honorable Joho commands massive support among the people of the Coast for his bravery to stand against Jubilee government propaganda and lies has made him an enemy of the State and hence the harassment."

Joho has warned Uhuru and his Jubilee administration to keep his family out of any form of harassment.

He said: "My Family and friends must not be dragged into these dramas. They should be left in peace and let me suffer alone for this one year because I know it will end.''
