President Uhuru Kenyatta will on Wednesday (today) morning chair a Jubilee Parliamentary Group meeting at State House Nairobi. The meeting aims at building consensus to back National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi for another term and former Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka as Senate Speaker.According to the Star, Jubilee is said to have settled on Muturi but decided to drop outgoing Senate Speaker Ekwee Ethuro, who will battle it out with other candidates. The Parliamentary Group will also endorse Garissa Town MP elect Adan Duale and Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki as Majority leaders of the respective Houses. Also to be agreed on are the positions of deputy Majority leaders, Chief whips and their deputies who will lead Jubilee’s legislative wing.Deputy President William Ruto will also attend the crucial meeting."The President and the DP will be present at the meeting at State House. We will be looking at the available leadership positions in the House and agree on how they will be filled," Duale told the Star on Tuesday. This will be the first meeting of the newly elected legislators with the President since the August 8 election.NASA will, on the other hand, hold another crisis meeting to decide whether or not to attend the first sitting of Parliament tomorrow after failing to agree last Friday. The opposition MPs attended an orientation ceremony at Parliament Buildings on Tuesday in what appears like a change of heart.
