President Uhuru Kenyatta may after all not execute intensive campaigns in Kisii and Nyamira Counties, reports the Sunday Nation.
For the second time in less than a week, Uhuru snubbed crucial events in the region even after sources intimating that he was likely to attend.
And the anti – Jubilee protests that ensued in the region following his spat with Chief Justice David Maraga may have made the president to change his mind.
“Our focus is now in Western region and we want to make it a battle ground. The Gusii community is keen to defend Maraga and as Jubilee we may not score,” said Ababu Namwamba, a key Jubilee leader.
But Raila Odinga’s trip to the region in defense of Maraga immediately after the Supreme Court ruling is said to have angered the president making him lose interest.
“This is politics and because he was going ballistic on Maraga, we had to also capitalize on the issue and lock him out completely,” observes Ben Momanyi, a Wiper MP for Borabu constituency.
In his continued jibes at Uhuru, Odinga has challenged Kenyans to turn out in large numbers and punish Uhuru before he ‘teaches’ Maraga a lesson.
