Political scientist Mutahi Ngunyi has ‘revealed’ why President Uhuru Kenyatta is winning the August 8 presidential contest, with just over a month to the polls. Mr Ngunyi, who gives a weekly political analysis of current affairs together with his young African scholars from the Fort Hall School of Government, says the Jubilee manifesto is the development projects that President Uhuru Kenyatta has been doing since he came into power in 2013. “In this election, Uhuru is the manifesto. If we vote for him… it is because we have seen his work with our own two eyes. Period,” says political economist D.M, a Ph.D candidate at Swiss MC Uni, Zurich. For NASA’s presidential Raila Odinga, the analysts say he has very little to show for himself. “As for Raila, his six-point manifesto is a political joke. Reading it is a total waste of brain cells,” D.M says, then adds: “Here is the point: Raila is the NASA manifesto period.”Ngunyi, who correctly predicted the outcome of the 2013 presidential contest, says he supports President Kenyatta because the Jubilee leader is winning and loves the country.. “The reason why I support Uhuru Kenyatta is he loves this country, and is genuine about it,” he says. “I am also supporting him because he is winning, and I like to support winners, not liars,” the former university don says. In explaining the motivation of voters in the country right now, Mr Ngunyi says Kenyans are tired of politics and want to put the election behind them. “What we (Kenyans) are looking for is leadership, not politics and Raila represents politics, Uhuru represents leadership. This is why Uhuru is winning,” he adds.
